The man who once played gangsters only to graduate to leading man was once expelled from Yale. Humphrey Bogart broke through the Hollywood barrier to stardom with the movie, The Petrified Forest (1936), which granted him a contract with Fox Pictures. Casablanca (1942) and The African Queen (1951)—for which he earned an Academy Award—are two of his most famous films. “Bogey” acted in several different genres and was prolific in all of them. He made 64 pictures for the drama genre alone. Humphrey Bogart films are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
