Best remembered as Nick Charles of the "Thin Man" series, the usually mustachioed Powell was the epitome of the suave, urbane yet streetwise Hollywood leading man. He first appeared on screen in Sherlock Holmes (1922) opposite John Barrymore, and later made such films as The Last of Mrs. Cheyney with Joan Crawford (1937), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) with Marilyn Monroe and Love Crazy (1941) in his most famous screen pairing with Myrna Loy. His most common genres were comedy and romance. William Powell’s films are available on DVD and Blu-ray.
